NEWS STUFF- Mountains in the bible represent stuff-
important stuff.
Abraham was tested by God-
‘Go- offer your son to me- on Mount Moriah’.
Tough test.
At the last minute God says ‘No- wait- it was only a test’.
Whew!
In Hebrews the writer tells us that we have come to a
greater mountain than the one Moses was on when he got the 10 commandments.
That mountain was named Sinai.
The one we ‘are on’ is called Zion.
Huh?
Zion was a real hill back in the day- by Jerusalem.
Which represents the ‘City of God’.
Not a physical place- on the ground.
But a spiritual community of people- The apostle Paul says
the Jerusalem ‘which is above’ is the mother of us all.
But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all. Gal. 4:26
Meaning the church.
Ok-
Jesus was crucified on a mountain- called Calvary.
Calvary was the same mountain that Isaac was going to be
offered on many hundreds of years before.
Why the same mountain?
Because Isaac was a symbol of Jesus.
And the true fulfillment of the Son being offered was
accomplished thru the death of Christ on the Cross.
We today ARE the new mountain that God dwells in-
God lives in us- all who believe what took place at Calvary.
As the apostle John writes And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. Rev. 21:2
We are now God’s special place- God’s Holy city-
The true Israel of
God.
15 For in
Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a
new creature.
16 And as
many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and upon the
Israel of God.

22:1 And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and
said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am.Genesis 22:2 And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.
Genesis 22:3 And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him.
Genesis 22:4 Then on the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off.
Genesis 22:5 And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you.
Genesis 22:6 And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering, and laid it upon Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife; and they went both of them together.
Genesis 22:7 And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?
Genesis 22:8 And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.
Genesis 22:9 And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood.
Genesis 22:10 And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.
Genesis 22:11 And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.
Genesis 22:12 And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.
Genesis 22:13 And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.
Genesis 22:14 And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen.
Hebrews 11:17 By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son,
Hebrews 11:18 Of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy seed be called:
Hebrews 11:19 Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure.

Hebrews 12:21 And so terrible was the sight, that Moses said, I exceedingly fear and quake:)

Hebrews 12:23 To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,
And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. Rev. 21:2
