These videos were off the cuff- taken over a couple of days.
But you can see a theme- that the guys brought up on their
own.
I added a few verses that relate [below].
You have seen some of the guys before-
Doing well-
And not so well.
I never planned on making any videos from the start.
In 2014 when I was in North Bergen- I just started making a
few- from an old phone/camera-
And over time it became part of the ‘community’-
So- hopefully you can gain some insights into ‘real life’.
Many of the stories of people who have been on the road to
recovery- then messed up- you hardly ever get to hear from them again.
I have had friends in AA- when their relatives relapsed-
they told me ‘I will not speak to them again- and whenever they want to talk- I
will offer them the program- and if they say no- that’s it’.
I felt that was strange- because in one case- a father told
me this about his son.
Because his sponsor gave him that advice.
So- hopefully you can benefit from all of their stories- the
good- the bad-
And at times- the ‘ugly’.
ONE MORE- I added this note right before I post.
I realize it’s possible for some who are very into AA- to
say ‘see- all of the people John is trying to help- thru Christianity- have
relapsed’.
First- that’s not true.
One of our first ‘church members’- in Kingsville- who had a
long prison record [drugs] is doing great- has been free for many years.
Got his degree- while in prison- and is a counselor for the
County [working with other ex- cons].
Second- we should not try and evaluate the authenticity of
any movement- based on one person [Like- let’s see if John ever relapses].
I have said this many times- if you look at the history of
recovery- over thousands of years [yes- Noah got drunk!]
The recovery rate for those ‘in the church’- meaning they
found God- is actually higher than AA.
Now- some of my AA friends were shocked when they heard this
[the recovery rate in AA is about 7 %- 10 % -about the same as other addiction
recovery treatments].
So- I refer those who are not aware of all of the other statistics-
to read more into it- to learn more about the entire field.
Third- Jimmy was doing AA- Shakky did try it [at first he
told me he never was in it- but later I found out he was].
I don’t think Bobby ever tried it.
Actually Jimmy avoided me at one point- because he knew I
was not ‘into AA’.
I think a sponsor might have told him that.
He relapsed a while back- while doing the program.
So- none of this is simply ‘John’s view’-
The Christian ‘movement’ has been bringing people to
recovery for hundreds of years before AA was around.
This is not my point of view- it’s documented fact.
VERSES-
Isaiah
54:16 Behold, I have created the smith that bloweth the coals in the fire, and
that bringeth forth an instrument for his work; and I have created the waster
to destroy.Isaiah 54:17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.
[Funny- Jimmy brought up this verse and I quoted it.
This morning- as I
was reviewing the videos and adding the notes-
I took a break to read my morning chapter- I have been
reading one chapter a day in Isaiah- and sure enough- the verse was in this morning’s
chapter- Isaiah 54]
And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is
able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
Matt. 10:28
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath
torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. 1st
Jn. 4:18
