[my comment on Jesus Creed Blog].
Good conversation-
I think the argument can be made that Paul’s use of Adam ‘AS BY
ONE MAN SIN ENTERED INTO THE WORLD..’
Shows us the importance of his view of an historical Adam [One
Man] not only in a ‘reductionist’ view of soteriology- but in the whole broad
scope of the Kingdom message-
Jesus- as One Man- is the firstfruits [not a symbol of the whole
harvest- but the first ONE of the greater harvest to come].
So- I see the Historical Adam as a big part of the whole kingdom
vision that we see in scripture.
I also agree with the point that we can miss the bigger picture
when we reduce the Adam question to a simple one of Creationism- the age of the
earth- etc.
