Look at the verse below.
What did he mean? Did Jesus teach a ‘gospel’
that focused on being comfortable in this life?
When he told us he came that ‘we might have an abundant life’- did
he mean we would be the wealthiest- the most ‘successful’ people- in the way
the world views success?
When Peter rebuked Jesus because he told them he was going to be
crucified- was Jesus making a ‘bad confession’ [meaning- did his words shape
his future- and because he said he would be killed- is that why it happened?-
or is the will of God for us something that actually entails suffering- death-
and carrying our cross?]
Today I hope to have a full day- and I will probably have at least
one video for you later.
But mediate on this short passage-
If Jesus were to appear to you- like he did to the disciples- and
tell you ‘today- drop all you have going on- your dreams- the things you see as
the most important- the things you associate with an ‘abundant life’- and come-
take up the cross- follow me’- would you be willing to follow?
Luke 14:25 And there went great multitudes with him: and he
turned, and said unto them,
Luke 14:26 If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and
mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own
life also, he cannot be my disciple.
Luke 14:27 And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after
me, cannot be my disciple.
